Are Wonka Bars discontinued? ›

In 2005, when Charlie and the Chocolate Factory premiered, demand for the bars were again high, but the bars became discontinued once the demand died off, in January 2010. Ferrero Group currently owns the rights to the Wonka Bars name, bought from Nestlé, but by then, the bars were gone in the U.S.

Wonka Bars, also known as "Wonka Bar," is a sativa-dominant hybrid marijuana strain developed from a clever cross between Garlic Cookies (aka GMO Cookies) and Mint Chocolate Chip.

Other varieties of Wonka Bars were subsequently manufactured and sold in the real world, formerly by the Willy Wonka Candy Company, a division of Nestlé. These bars were discontinued in January 2010 due to poor sales.

Wonka, the owner of the chocolate factory, had fired all his workers because he found some spies among them who stole his secret chocolate recipes. Because he didn't trust them anymore, Mr. Wonka let all the workers go and shut the factory.

Nerds were originally owned by Nestle, who owned the Willy Wonka Candy line. Although you may still see Willy Wonka tags on these products, Nestlé no longer owns them. The Wonka line, which included the Nerds brand, was sold to Ferrara Candy in 2000.

In the case of the Wonka bars, Nestle stopped producing them in 2014.
