Up FrontSwan SongOPERA STAR DAVID Daniels and his husband, Scott Walters, will escape jail time after they pleaded guilty this summer to the sexual assault of a young man in 2010.Daniels and Walters reached a plea deal as their trial was about to begin in Harris County Court in Houston. Each pleaded guilty to sexual assault of an adult, which is a second-degree felony, and they will be on probation for eight years and have to register as sex offenders, according to The New York Times. They will therefore not be prosecuted for the first-degree felony of aggravated sexual assault. Up FrontFreudian HipA recently discovered letter written by Sigmund Freud shows him defending hom*osexuality. Well, sort of.The correspondence, dated December 6, 1938, went up for auction in September at the Boston-based RR Auction house. Freud, the founder of psychoanalysis, wrote the letter in German from his London home. In the letter, Freud responds to a question about sexual orientation from a concerned writer who may know a queer person.“I cannot agree with your calling hom*osexuality a vice or a crime,” Freud writes. “It is neither, regardless of the legislation in different countries. But it is an unfortunate trait, and efforts to overcome it are justified.
