Summary
- Genshin Impact 5.0 livestream is set to occur in mid August, and will confirm details about the new Natlan characters.
- New gameplay mechanics in Natlan like Saurians and Night Spirit will likely be explained during the event.
- Players can also expect some details about Natlan's story, including a tournament and the Fatui Harbinger's plans.
The Genshin Impact 5.0 livestream already has a date and time to occur, as was officially announced by developer HoYoverse. As is the case with any livestream, the upcoming special event will present most of the new content related to the patch, from teasers of the story mission, details about the Nation of Natlan, limited-time events, and, of course, the character banners in Genshin Impact 5.0. The new characters for the update have already been revealed, but their order in Phases 1 and 2 has not been confirmed, despite the information being present in leaks.
In addition to the new characters, the Version 5.0 livestream should also present the rerun character banners that should accompany the two new 5-star units. The next special event should be one of the most important ones in the upcoming year of content, as it will present Natlan for the first time ever, as well as the unique gameplay mechanics therein – for now, only Saurians have been confirmed, though there are leaks about something called Night Spirit mechanics in Genshin Impact 5.0, for example. Core gameplay details about Natlan will be revealed with the livestream.

Genshin Impact 5.0 Livestream - Date & Time
The Special Event Shows The Game Is On Its Regular Schedule
As was previously mentioned, the developer has confirmed the upcoming event. According to a post made on the official Genshin Impact account on x (formerly Twitter), the Version 5.0 livestream will occur on August 16, at 12 am ET. The event will be broadcast on the game’s official channels on YouTube and Twitch. The confirmation of the special event occurring on that date puts it in line with when livestreams regularly happen and two weeks from the patch’s rumored release date, August 27 – a date that will be confirmed during the event.
Three New Natlan Characters Are Debuting In The Next Update
Version 5.0 will introduce three new characters from Natlan: Mualani, Kinich, and Kachina. These characters have already been somewhat presented in the Natlan teaser trailers so far, but their leaked gameplay kits should be confirmed during the livestream. Mualani is rumored to be a 5-star Hydro catalyst character who occupies the role of main DPS in team comps. The leaks mention she has a high HP scaling. There are even rumors that the new Natlan character in Genshin Impact can match Neuvillette in terms of combat power. Mualani can ride a shark-shaped accessory, both for exploration and combat.
Kinich, on the other hand, is rumored to be a 5-star Dendro claymore character. The leaks, so far, mention he can attach himself to opponents with a grappling hook and, with it, spin and shoot projectiles at the enemy. Kinich is also accompanied by a pixel-art creature called Ajaw, who has different forms. Kinich is expected to be a Dendro DPS with a lot of on-field presence given the way his abilities allegedly work. Kinich leaks in Genshin Impact also suggest he can use the grapple hook outside of battle, facilitating exploration and reaching new heights.
Lastly, Kachina is rumored to be a 4-star Geo polearm character. The character can allegedly summon a drill during combat, which deals AoE Geo DMG – this is expected to be the same drill she is seen using for exploration in the teaser trailer. Kachina’s role in team comps is still uncertain, but given her ability to create a Geo structure and leave the field, she may operate as a sub-DPS or support. Leaks also show that Kachina can use the drill outside of battle as a means of transport, possibly quicker than her regular running animation.
When it comes to the order they will be introduced, the leaker known as Dim shared a post on X, detailing the character banner structure in Version 5.0. According to them, Mualani and Kazuha will star the Phase 1 banners, followed by Kinich and Raiden Shogun in Phase 2. There are no mentions as to when Kachina will make her debut, so far. These character banners will be confirmed during the Genshin Impact 5.0 livestream.
While players can certainly expect the three aforementioned Natlan characters, the rerun units are still subject to change. There is a chance that the leak was inaccurate or simply altered after it was shared. As such, players looking forward to Kazuha or Raiden Shogun – or their respective weapons, should take the leak with increased caution.
What To Expect From Genshin Impact 5.0 Livestream - Natlan & Mechanics
Saurians & Night Spirit Will Likely Be Explained
Although new characters tend to occupy the largest portion of most livestreams, this special event should be well split. This is because the event will most likely give players a deep-dive introduction to Natlan. The Nation of Pyro has long been mentioned in the game, but HoYoverse will now present it officially. This goes from showcasing its different biomes to exclusive mechanics. One such mechanic that should be thoroughly described is the usage of Saurians as a means of transport across Natlan in Genshin Impact.
The dragon-like creatures have already been teased as alternative mounts, capable of burrowing underground, riding water and lava, and even using a grappling mechanic to reach new heights. Now, these Saurians should be more adequately described and players will better understand when they can be used. Natlan is known to be a land of dragons and, according to leaks, these Saurians even dictate the separation of some tribes in the region – there may be tribes dedicated to the Dendro and Geo Saurians, for example.
The other big gameplay mechanic that will likely be described during the Genshin Impact 5.0 livestream is Night Spirit. So far, rumors indicate that this will affect all upcoming Natlan characters and that it can trigger special effects upon switching characters, gathering charge of Night Spirit, and more. This should be the equivalent of the Arkhe system from Fontaine, but the leaks suggest its presence in combat will be a lot more significant.
Other smaller Natlan-exclusive mechanics should also be presented during the Version 5.0 livestream.
What To Expect From Genshin Impact 5.0 Livestream - Natlan Story Teaser
Details About The Tournament Will Likely Be Presented
Even though most secrets and revelations will be kept under wraps, HoYoverse may present more details about the story in Natlan during the Version 5.0 livestream. The latest teaser showed that there is some sort of tournament taking place in the Nation of Pyro, coinciding with the arrival of the Traveler. In addition to that, the Fatui Harbinger Capitano has some sort of plan for the region and is probably in search of the Pyro Gnosis. How this will unfold and how Mavuika, one of the new Natlan characters in Genshin Impact, will deal with it is still unknown.
However, the overview of the story in Natlan will likely be presented during the special event. A lot of details about Natlan have already leaked, but there is still a lot that is shrouded in mystery and uncertainty. Following the livestream, players do not have to wait too much for the release of Natlan in Genshin Impact, provided the game does not suffer delays.
