Dark and Darker is an excellent cooperative dungeon crawler. Solo players can enjoy the game, but it is primarily aimed at small-group play. Using a lobby system, players can form a party in advance, or rely on the automated matching feature to head into a dungeon for some great hack-and-slash combat.

As with almost every multiplayer game that has a class system and skills, some players are able to create builds that are overpowered. These are either specialized builds for certain situations, such as 1v1 PvP, or generally overpowered builds that enable the player to steamroll most content. A pair of Rings of Courage help to boost stats, with a torch and suitable potions making up the rest of the loadout. Almost all of the perks this build uses are aimed at increasing DPS in some way.
